Ken Baker Memorial Student Scholarship
for Students in Pharmacy or Pharmacy Law

The American Society for Pharmacy Law ("ASPL") is seeking applicants for the Ken Baker Memorial Student Scholarship.  The purpose of this scholarship is to support students in pharmacy and pharmacy law to attend the annual ASPL Developments in Pharmacy Law Seminar where they will: 1) attend up to 15 hours of continuing education sessions; and 2) network with industry professionals from across the country.  Funding for this scholarship is subject to vary year to year based upon the operational funds available to ASPL.

The recipient will receive a complimentary registration to the annual Developments in Pharmacy Law Seminar in the current year to earn up to 15 hours of continuing education and participate in a variety of networking opportunities.  A complimentary hotel-stay up to 3 nights at the conference hotel (room & tax only) and reimbursement of up to $750 travel to attend the conference will be awarded.  Recipients will also receive a complimentary 1-year ASPL Student Membership giving access to monthly member newsletters, reduced registration fees for live and on-demand webinars and potential participation in various ASPL committees and work groups.

It was an honor to receive The Ken Baker Memorial Scholarship in 2022. The scholarship enabled me to travel to Naples, FL and participate in the “Developments in Pharmacy Law” annual seminar. As a second-year law student, and pharmacist of more than 20 years, it was as if the best of both of my worlds collided. The continued education offered was top notch with expert presenters. I learned more than I thought possible in the span of a weekend and met so many welcoming professionals. The scholarship allowed me to make connections and gain insight into the world of pharmacy law that is beyond what a classroom can provide. I would highly recommend pharmacists and lawyers alike join the American Society of Pharmacy Law- and that any pharmacy or law students consider applying for the Ken Baker Memorial Scholarship. I will forever appreciate being the recipient of such a generous scholarship that provided an experience that will not be forgotten and will forever be appreciated.

My name is Anthony. I am a pharmacist and a second-year law student. I want to say thank you for establishing this wonderful scholarship! I attended my first ASPL conference in 2016 when I was a P3 pharmacy student. A tremendous mentor of mine recommended that I attend if possible. I was determined to make it to the conference in Austin despite the travel and registration expenses. I sought assistance from my Dean, established a GoFundMe, took donations from family, and used a credit card—all to get to ASPL. Luckily, I was surrounded by tremendous people that were willing to support me. Attending that conference solidified my decision to attend law school after pharmacy school. It was one of the greatest decisions I’ve ever made and I cannot wait to start practicing in just over one year. I have connected with so many wonderful professionals at ASPL conferences and am thrilled to know that another student will have the same opportunity, thanks to this scholarship.
